Panelists-Seeking-Panelists Forum -- use this site to find other scholars to join your panel proposal!
Job Workshop -- deadline was 15 April 2015.
SHAFR and the media occasionally record conference sessions for use in broadcast and electronic media. Presenters who do not wish for their session to be recorded may opt out when submitting a proposal to the Program Committee. An audience member who wishes to audiotape or videotape must obtain written permission of panelists. SHAFR is not responsible for unauthorized recording. SHAFR reserves the right to revoke the registration of anyone who records sessions without appropriate permissions.
If you have any questions about conference logistics, please contact Jennifer Walton, the Conference Coordinator, at email@example.com. If you have questions about the conference program, please contact the 2015 program committee co-chairs, Brooke Blower and Jason Colby, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration fees for the 2015 conference are $85 standard or $35 student, K-12 teacher, or adjunct faculty until June 1. On June 1 registration fees increase to $105 standard or $50 student, K-12 teacher, or adjunct faculty.
Please note a new policy for 2015: all participants on the program must be current SHAFR members. If you need to renew your membership or you are not yet a member, please click here.
Registrants who are not participants on this year's program are not required to be SHAFR members, but we encourage you to check us out anyway!
If you wish to pay by check or money order, you can download and print a registration form here.
Online registration is now available! Online registration will close June 15. Registration will be available on site, payable by cash, check, or charge.
SHAFR is excited to launch a new conference schedule this year! We will still have the usual eight sessions, but each will be shortened by fifteen minutes. There is complimentary hotel shuttle service every 20 minutes between 7 am and 11 pm to DCA and the Crystal City Metro (Blue and Yellow Metro lines). In the lobby, SOCCi Urban Italian Kitchen and Bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while Espressamente illy Coffee House serves coffee and light fare during the day. A 24-hour fitness center and heated indoor pool are also available on site, and there is complimentary wi-fi access in the lobby. SHAFR hotel guests will receive complimentary Internet access in their sleeping rooms. Conference room rates are $159/night, single or double occupancy, plus tax. The tax rate is currently 10%. The deadline for receiving the conference rate is May 27, 2015. Please note that the hotel is required to honor the reduced rate until this date OR until all the rooms in the SHAFR block have been booked. Once the block is fully booked, the hotel will offer rooms at its usual rate, if any are available, or may even be completely full. Please make your reservation as early as you can. Book online here.
The Renaissance Arlington Capital View conference block is now full for several of the nights during the conference. We have set up an overflow block at the Courtyard Marriott Crystal City/Reagan National Airport, across the street, at the same conference rate of $159/night plus tax. Again, the hotel is required to honor this reduced rate until May 27, 2015, OR until all the rooms in the SHAFR block have been booked, whichever comes first. You may book online here.
If the Courtyard Marriott is full, please consult this list of nearby hotels, provided as a courtesy.
