SHAFR historian Luke A. Nichter (Texas A&M University – Central Texas), who was the co-recipient with Douglas Brinkley of the 2017 SHAFR Link-Kuehl Prize for Documentary Editing for The Nixon Tapes, has now also been recognized by the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Public Scholar Program. He received $50,400 for research and writing on a new biography of Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr.

Host the 2020 SHAFR Annual Conference!
Every other year, SHAFR holds its annual meeting in a location other than the Washington, D.C. area. (Recent non-D.C. locales: 2016, San Diego, CA; 2014, Lexington, KY; 2012, Hartford, CT; 2010, Madison, WI; 2008, Columbus, OH.) The SHAFR Council would like to hear from members interested in hosting the conference in their home cities in late June 2020. Council is also interested in hearing from potential hosts for 2022 and 2024.
